STRONG winds and heavy rain across the far southeast of England will clear over while a cold start in other areas will give way to bright weather with sunny spells and scattered showers.

Wednesday is forecast to be dry for most but the west may be hit by showers.

NEXT weekend is likely to bring a spell of wet and windy weather, and though it could get stormy, it will be a little milder than currently conditions.

Forecast for the following week is unsettled with some clear and sunny periods, but showers and longer spells of rain to break these up. The west is likely to get the heaviest rain with eastern parts of the UK a little drier. A possibility of snow on northern hills. It will be windy at times with gales, in particular in the west.

Temperatures to stay near normal to rather cold, however quite mild at times. Overnight frosts are possible in the drier interludes.
