I’D often thought about becoming a care worker, but didn’t think I could do it. Instead I worked in retail – in supermarkets, fast food restaurants and high street clothes shops – but it was always just a job, a way to earn money. I was also working evenings, so I never saw my kids, Kieren, 13, Bradley, 10, and Jamie, who is just four. Something had to change. Then I spotted an advert on Facebook for work in social care, so I spoke to the recruiter, who persuaded me to go for it. More than 50 tornadoes rip through central US, leaving one dead and at least 130 injured

Monday marked the record-tying 11th straight day with at least eight tornadoes, and there’s no immediate end to the pattern in sight

At least one person was killed and 130 were injured as a rapid-fire line of tornadoes tore across Indiana and Ohio, packed so closely together that one crossed the path carved by another.

The storms were among 55 twisters that forecasters said may have touched down Monday across eight states stretching eastward from Idaho and Colorado.
