Homeworking Boosts Britain’s productivity

WORKING from home, even if just part time, has become the new normal for many of us – and all of a sudden, your broadband connection is more important than ever.

In fact, in new research conducted by TalkTalk, 54 per cent of Brits have said that they do not expect to return to the office for a regular five-day working week.

Many of you are seeing the positives in the situation, with 58 per cent saying they were more productive whilst working from home, and a quarter saying they appreciated the time and money saved on commuting.

Increased productivity hasn’t just been limited to our day jobs with 32 per cent of Brits using Lockdown to learn new skills, ranging from baking (15 percent) to IT and digital skills (19 per cent). While some of us were clearly dreaming about when we could travel freely again, as just under a quarter (24 per cent) spent lockdown learning a new language.

As well as working from home, we’re streaming much more and using our broadband connection to connect with friends and family more frequently than we were before the Covid-19 pandemic – and this new normal means that your connection needs to work a lot harder.

In fact, 69 per cent of those surveyed said they could not have been productive in lockdown without their fast, reliable internet connection. Indeed, the quality of your broadband connection was rated more important than things like access to public parks (19 per cent) and even online shopping deliveries (36 per cent) for getting you through the lockdown.

At the height of the Covid-19 outbreak, TalkTalk saw a 40 per cent increase in demand for data – the need for fast, reliable, and affordable home connectivity has never been greater.

To serve this need, TalkTalk has introduced a Homeworker Package. The package gives you a second line into your home dedicated for home working. That way, there’s no risk of the streamers, gamers & box-set bingers in your household slowing you down while your work.

With business-grade  connectivity and security, plus access to support from TalkTalk’s UK customer service team seven days a week, this package could be an attractive alternative for those of you at companies that are revaluating office-based working in favour of working from home more.

Did you start a side hustle in lockdown?

TalkTalk’s research also reveals that one in ten of those surveyed started a side hustle during lockdown.

41 per cent of those surveyed said they did this because they finally had more time to dedicate to it, whereas 37 per cent said they did it because they needed to make more money during the pandemic.

In this new era, our homes are no longer just where we eat and sleep and watch the telly. They’re offices, classrooms, cinemas and business HQs, amongst other things.

If you’re working from home and your family is pushing your current connection to the max then the Homeworker package could solve your problems.
